Beginning of School Principal’s Letter

Dear Members of the St. Patrick School Community,

     The journey of a Lifetime begins at St. Patrick Catholic School.  Summer days fade and we look forward to all that is good and wonderful at our school.  These days are filled with positive energy and enthuisiasm, as we plan for the year ahead.

     We warmly welcome new faculty for the 2010-11 school year.  Mrs. Nancy Gundle, Teacher of Grade 4.  Her experience and educational background will continue to be an asset for our school.  She embodies the St. Patrick spirit and has given herself without measure.  Mrs. Deanna Russo joins us as Teacher of Grade 5.  Her expertise and background spell success.  Mrs. Lori Benton will be teaching Spanish in Grades Pre – K -8. She is highly qualified in this area.

     You will find enclosed information concerning the first few weeks of school.  New Parent/Student Handbooks will be sent home the first day of school with the youngest child in each family.  Until then, I hope that the following information will be of some help.

School Times:  The school day begins promptly at 8:15 AM and grades Pre-K through 4 dismisses at 2:50 PM and 5-8 dismisses at 3:00 PM.  Extended day services will be provided before and after the school day from 7:00 – 7:45 AM and from 3:00 – 6:00 PM.  Before Care will begin Wed. Aug. 25th and After Care will be available the first day of school.

Technology: Smart Boards and Technology upgrades continue to be a part of what’s new at St. Patrick this year.  Generous donations make all of this possible.

Supply List:  Your child’s supply list can be found on line.  Please make sure your child comes with all their supplies on the first day of school.  If you have any questions the office staff would be happy to help you.

Safe Environment Training for Volunteers: A Workshop will be offered at St. Patrick Parish Hall on Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM for all volunteers as well as the recertification of volunteers which should take place every five years. 

Lunch Program:  We are pleased to announce that Joto’s will once again be catering our School Lunch Program.  They offer quality ingredients, generous portions that are prepared fresh daily to meet our students’ taste and needs.  New menu selections will rotate on a monthly basis (see enclosed)  The hot lunch prices remain the same (includes milk) $2.00 for Pre-K and K and $3.25 for Grades 1-8.

The program will start August 30th  .  The order form along with your child’s selection should be returned to the school office by Wednesday, August 25th to reserve lunch for your child for the next week.  The first week of school the students will need to bring their own bag lunch.  Milk, ice cream and snacks will be available for purchase. Please note we will not be microwaving any lunches.

Office Hours:  Beginning August 9th  office hours will be from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Fees:  All registration, material and technology fees for the school year must be paid prior to the first day of school.  Coupons are enclosed for your tuition payments.

Dress Code:  Allen’s Sports Center in Seminole once again  will be handling our uniforms.  Uniforms can also be purchased through Lands End Please see the enclosed Allen’s price list.  It can also be found on the school website.

Uniform Exchange Sales: We will be having a uniform sale on Sunday, August 15th from 11:30 AM- 1:00 PM in the school cafeteria.

Health Immunization Record:  Students in Pre-K, Kindergarten and Grade 7 are required to have proof of current required immunization by the first day of school.

Fun Fair: Planning is well under way for our Annual Fall Event.  Our Chairs – Mr. & Mrs. Giordano, Mr.& Mrs. Proni and Mr. & Mrs. Scully are doing a fantastic job.  See information enclosed with this mailing.

Open House:  The school Mass and Open House for the new school year has been scheduled for August 22nd .  Mass will begin promptly at 10:00 AM.  Everyone is expected to attend.  Immediately following Mass at 11:30 AM Pre-K and Kindergarten Orientation Meetings will be held in their classrooms.  Open House for grades 1-8 will also take place at this time.  Stop by your child(ren)’s classroom and meet their teachers.  This will be our only scheduled Open House for the new school year so it is my wish that you all can join us.  In conjunction the PTO is hosting a Reception for all new and returning families in the Msgr. McCall Parish Center.  Come meet old friends and make new ones too.  It should be a delightful time.

     All that is good and wonderful in a St. Pat’s education is a gift from God.  May all students, faculty and parents strive to reflect that grace by word and deed.  I look forward to seeing each of you soon.  I know that with God’s Blessing this will be another amazing year at St. Patrick Catholic School.
